Mortuary Freezer Opens in Salt Lake's Ward 39
Imagine a special fridge, like the one in your kitchen, but for bodies.
In Ward 39 of Salt Lake, they've just gotten one!
This fridge helps families who need extra time to say goodbye to their loved ones.
It keeps the body safe for up to two days, so family members who live far away can come and visit before the funeral.
This new service is free for people in Ward 39, except for the cost of getting the body there.
It's a big help because it's not always easy to take a body to a mortuary or keep it at home.
The officials were so impressed that they are getting more of these fridges for other areas.
A mortuary freezer was inaugurated in Salt Lake's Ward 39, offering free preservation for deceased bodies.
The freezer is meant to help families of elderly residents in Ward 39, whose children are often away.
Sponsored by Inner Wheel Clubs, the unit is stationed in Duttabad and only requires transport cost.
The freezer can keep a body for up to 48 hours, offering an alternative to mortuaries or home ice slabs.
Officials plan to expand the initiative with additional units for Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation and Rajarhat New Town.
