Supreme Court rules on Air Force personnel's right to leave
The Supreme Court of India recently made an important decision about the Indian Air Force.
They said that Air Force members cannot just leave their jobs whenever they want to take civil service jobs.
The court explained that Air Force rules require soldiers to get permission before applying for civil jobs.
This is to keep the Air Force ready and organized.
A man named Nakhat Singh, who is a Corporal in the Air Force, wanted to leave his job to become a teacher.
He had already worked for seven years.
But the Air Force said no because he didn't ask for permission first.
The Supreme Court agreed with the Air Force and said the rules are important.
This means Air Force members have to follow these rules if they want to leave for civil jobs.
The Supreme Court ruled that Indian Air Force personnel do not have an 'unqualified right' to leave service at will to join civil posts.
The court emphasized that strict adherence to Air Force procedural requirements is mandatory to maintain operational preparedness.
Corporal Nakhat Singh of the IAF sought a no objection certificate and discharge after being selected as an Assistant Professor (Hindi) by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission.
Singh's application for an NOC and discharge was rejected by the Air Officer Commanding, citing the Air Force Order of 2017.
Singh's challenge to this refusal was previously dismissed by both the Armed Forces Tribunal and the Delhi High Court.
