Tamil Nadu's Girl Child Protection Scheme: Eligibility and Details
The Tamil Nadu government has a special program to help girls.
It gives money to families to support their daughters' education and future.
There are two parts: families with one girl get a fixed deposit of money, and families with two girls each get a smaller deposit.
The money helps them pay for school.
The girls also get extra money each year starting at age six.
To get help, families need to meet certain requirements like income and how long they've lived in Tamil Nadu.
The goal is to help girls learn, stay healthy, and have a good future.
The Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme, launched in 1992, aims to empower girls in Tamil Nadu.
Scheme-I provides Rs 50,000 deposit for families with one girl child; Scheme-II offers Rs 25,000 per girl for families with two children.
Eligible families must have an annual income up to Rs. 1,20,000.
Parents/grandparents must reside in Tamil Nadu for at least 10 years.
The scheme offers an annual incentive of Rs. 1,800 from the sixth year to support educational needs.
