Supreme Court to Hear Maratha Quota Challenge in July
Imagine a group of people called Marathas wanted special spots in schools and jobs.
The government said they could have 10% of these spots.
However, some people are not happy with this and have asked the Supreme Court to make a decision.
The Supreme Court will consider this matter in July.
The Bombay High Court has already allowed Marathas to provisionally use the spots while this is being considered.
The Supreme Court previously stopped a similar plan.
The Supreme Court will hear a plea challenging the Maratha reservation in July.
The Bombay High Court previously allowed the Maratha community to provisionally avail 10% reservation.
The challenge is against the Bombay High Court's order that allowed the interim order to remain in force.
The 2024 SEBC Act provides 10% reservation for the Maratha community.
The Supreme Court struck down a similar Maratha quota law in 2021.
