Karnataka Urged to Expand ABC, ARV Programs
A group of students and animal lovers in Bengaluru had a press conference.
They asked the Karnataka government to use more science to control the number of street dogs.
They want the government to use special programs to control dog births and give them rabies shots instead of building expensive dog shelters.
They said these programs work well in Bengaluru and can stop dog bites and rabies.
They also want the government to promise in court to use these programs all over Karnataka.
The group includes actors and other animal welfare groups.
They believe this will be cheaper and better for both people and dogs.
Students for Streeties urged Karnataka to scale up ABC and ARV programmes for dog population management.
The appeal was made at a press conference attended by various animal welfare organisations and student groups.
Actor Pooja Gandhi supported the campaign, appealing to the government to implement ABC strictly.
Bengaluru's success in rabies control was highlighted due to its strong ABC and ARV systems.
The group urged the government to file an affidavit committing to statewide ABC implementation.
