Delhi Swelters: Heatwave Sends Temperatures Soaring
Delhi is very hot!
On Tuesday, the temperature was 40 degrees Celsius, but it felt like 50 degrees because the air was full of moisture, called humidity.
This caused the city to use more electricity than ever before.
The weather is caused by storms and a cyclone bringing in moisture, so it will stay humid for a while.
Since the rainy season, called the monsoon, is still a month away, it will remain hot.
Delhi's temperature reached 40 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
The high humidity made it feel like 50 degrees Celsius.
Delhi's peak power demand hit a record 7,401 megawatts.
High humidity is caused by western disturbances and a cyclonic circulation.
The monsoon is expected to arrive in the last week of June.
