India Sees 5-Year High Arms Seizures in 2025
In 2025, India saw the highest number of arms and ammunition seizures in five years.
The Border Security Force (BSF) found more AK-series weapons, detonators, magazines, explosives, and wireless sets than ever before.
This increase happened alongside two major terror attacks in Pahalgam and Delhi.
Officials believe that these seizures show a planned effort by adversaries, likely Pakistan, to bring more weapons and explosives into India.
The BSF has been working hard to stop these items from crossing the borders, but the high numbers in 2025 show that the threat is still very serious.
AK-series weapon seizures rose from 13 in 2024 to 40 in 2025, the highest since 2020.
Detonator recoveries increased by 265% year-on-year, from 220 in 2024 to 804 in 2025.
Assorted magazine recoveries jumped from 187 in 2024 to 1,127 in 2025, a nearly six-fold increase.
Explosive seizures more than doubled, from 11.815 kg in 2024 to 25.715 kg in 2025.
Wireless set recoveries increased from 56 in 2024 to 69 in 2025, indicating enhanced communication efforts by hostile elements.
