Nepal Warns Rescuers After Reported Dam Breach In Tibet

A huge flood and mudslide recently hit the border between Nepal and Tibet.

It killed 469 people, and more than 1,500 people were reported missing.

While rescue workers were searching for people, Nepal received a warning that a dam or water barrier had broken again in Tibet.

Officials worried that more water could rush downstream and create another flood.

They told rescuers, security workers and other people nearby to move to safer places.

China also stopped some rescue work because an unstable lake made from mud and debris was overflowing toward the rescue area.

Nepal’s officials said the report about a lake breach had not yet been confirmed.

Rescue teams still faced difficult conditions because mud, damaged roads and buried infrastructure blocked access.
