Bombay HC Allows Navlakha to Reside in Delhi
A 73-year-old man named Gautam Navlakha is in trouble for something called the Elgar Parishad case.
He was arrested a long time ago but is now out on bail.
He wants to live in Delhi instead of Mumbai because he says it's too expensive to stay in Mumbai.
The court is thinking about letting him do that.
The court said he might feel lost and alone in Mumbai because it's not his hometown.
The court also said there's no proof that he would run away if he goes to Delhi.
The people from the NIA, who are investigating the case, don't want him to go to Delhi because they think it might set a bad example for other people in the case.
The court is going to make a decision on December 17.
Bombay High Court allows Gautam Navlakha to reside in Delhi during his trial.
Navlakha, a 73-year-old activist, claims high cost of living in Mumbai and feels uprooted from his hometown.
The court noted there is no evidence that Navlakha is a flight risk.
NIA opposes the plea, citing concerns about setting a precedent for other accused in the case.
Navlakha must appear at the local police station in Delhi every Saturday and surrender his passport.
