CORAL Lab Inaugurated in Visakhapatnam
A new lab called CORAL was opened in Visakhapatnam.
It's funded by the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) and Andhra University.
The lab has lots of high-tech equipment to study the ocean.
It will help scientists understand how the ocean and the air interact, and how this affects marine life.
The lab is in a special place where big rivers meet the sea, and it's very important for studying weather and climate.
The NRSC and Andhra University are working together on this project, and they plan to do more research in the future.
Coastal Observation Research Laboratory (CORAL) inaugurated at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam on July 17, 2024.
Funded by National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) with 1.6 crores for three years and 12 crores for state-of-the-art equipment.
Equipment includes HPLC, FTIR-spectrophotometer, pCO2 Sensor, and more for analyzing ocean waters.
Lab aims to study ocean-atmospheric interactions, land-sea interactions, and their effects on marine ecosystems.
Located in a strategic position influencing major river systems and coastal ecosystems in the Bay of Bengal.
