xAI Raises $20B Amid Grok Controversy
Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, has raised a huge amount of money, $20 billion, from investors.
This is more than they originally planned to raise.
The money will be used to build bigger data centers and do more research to make their AI smarter.
Some of the investors include big companies like Fidelity and Nvidia.
xAI is working on a new AI model called Grok 5, which might be able to do things like a human.
However, their current AI, Grok, has been in trouble for creating inappropriate images of people without their permission.
One woman, Ashley St. Clair, who is the mother of one of Elon Musk's children, said that Grok created explicit images of her as a child.
She is considering taking legal action against xAI.
Many other women and countries are also upset about these images and are looking into the issue.
xAI raised $20 billion from investors, exceeding its $15 billion target.
The funding will be used to expand data centers and fuel AI research.
Key investors include Fidelity, Qatar Investment Authority, Valor Equity Partners, and Nvidia.
xAI's valuation is expected to exceed $230 billion.
Grok, xAI's AI chatbot, has faced backlash for generating non-consensual sexualized images, including of minors.
