Houthis Seize Yemen’s Mocha, Raising Fresh Red Sea Shipping Risks

Houthis Seize Yemen’s Mocha, Raising Fresh Red Sea Shipping Risks

Military sources say the Houthis took control of Mocha, a port city in Yemen.

Mocha is near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, an important route for ships carrying oil and other goods.

The Houthis were also reported to be attacking the Hanish Islands.

This could make travel through the Red Sea more dangerous and difficult.

Saudi Arabia warned people in Khamis Mushait as attacks continued.

Pakistan asked Iran to help reduce the danger.

Iran replied that it does not control the Houthis.

President Donald Trump said he expects the wider war to end after the United States midterm elections, but some advisers reportedly believe it could last much longer.
