Armenian Filmmaker Explores Identity in the Post-Soviet Era

Edgar Baghdasaryan is a filmmaker from Armenia who made a movie called "Yasha and Leonid Brezhnev".

His movie is about what it was like for people during and after the Soviet Union, when the government controlled many things, including art.

Unlike some other filmmakers who fought against the government through their art, Baghdasaryan uses humor and sadness together (tragicomedy) to focus on how people felt.

The main character, Yasha, is like a person who lost their way after the Soviet Union fell apart.

The filmmaker wants his movies to make people think about important questions and find beauty even in everyday life.

He believes that art can help people feel better and that it's important to believe in good things.
