RBI Announces Liquidity Measures to Stabilize Rupee
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced big plans to help banks have more money.
They will buy government bonds worth ₹2 lakh crore in four parts.
This will happen on four specific dates starting from December 29.
Additionally, they will do a special money exchange deal worth $10 billion to help keep things stable.
This is because recently, banks have had less money due to big payments like taxes.
The RBI's actions are expected to make borrowing cheaper and keep the rupee strong.
Also, the Bank of India raised ₹10,000 crore through long-term infrastructure bonds to fund projects.
The rupee has been a bit weak, but the RBI's actions are helping it get stronger.
RBI announces ₹2 lakh crore OMO bond purchases in four tranches of ₹50,000 crore each.
Auctions scheduled for December 29, January 5, January 12, and January 22.
USD/INR buy-sell swap auction of $10 billion with a three-year tenor on January 13, 2026.
Current liquidity deficit in the banking system stands at ₹54,852 crore.
