Global Rice Conference Begins Amidst Government Backing Out

A big meeting about rice, called the Bharat International Rice Conference, has started in India.

Many people from over 80 countries, including farmers and traders, are attending to talk about selling and buying rice.

The government's Department of Commerce decided not to officially support the event because of past issues with the organizer's leader.

Even though government officials weren't at the opening, some attended later talks.

Thirteen farmers were celebrated for their great work in growing rice.

Experts discussed ways to grow more rice using less water and more technology, comparing India's farming to China's.

They also highlighted how India's rice exports help feed people around the world.

One idea shared was to trade rice with countries that produce oil, ensuring both sides get what they need.
