Telangana Falls Behind Maharashtra, Karnataka in PLI Approvals
Telangana is a state in India that is known for its IT services.
The government has a program called PLI that helps companies build electronics factories.
Telangana has only one approved factory under this program, while other states like Maharashtra and Karnataka have many more.
Experts say Telangana needs to speed up land and infrastructure plans to attract more factories.
If it doesn't, other states will keep getting ahead in electronics production.
Telangana has only one approved PLI applicant for Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing (LSEM) and one for PLI Scheme 2.0 IT Hardware.
Maharashtra leads with seven LSEM approvals, followed by Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh with six each.
Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh each secured six IT Hardware approvals, while Telangana has only one.
Analysts warn Telangana must accelerate land allotment, infrastructure and investor outreach to catch up.
The state’s lag reflects a failure to convert its IT services strength into diversified electronics manufacturing.
