ICMR Procures Mobile Labs to Combat Outbreaks in India
Imagine a lab on wheels that can go anywhere to test for dangerous germs!
The Indian government is getting two more of these special labs called RAMBAAN to help stop outbreaks.
These labs are like hospitals for germs and are designed to work even in tough places.
They were used during the Nipah virus outbreaks to help scientists quickly figure out what was happening.
These labs are equipped with special filters and cleaning systems to keep everyone safe.
They are built on trucks and have everything needed to test for illnesses.
ICMR is procuring two more Mobile BSL-3 laboratories to enhance outbreak response.
These labs, called RAMBAAN, are field-deployable and designed for high-risk pathogen outbreaks.
The laboratories were developed in partnership with Klenzaids and funded by the Pradhan Mantri-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
MBSL-3 labs were first used during the Nipah virus outbreaks in Kerala.
The labs are built on heavy-duty vehicles and equipped with advanced safety and decontamination systems.
