Meghalaya: More Illegal Coal Goes Missing, Probe Ordered
Imagine some coal was taken out of the ground illegally, like a secret stash.
Now, some of this coal has gone missing.
The person in charge of keeping track of it all, Justice Katakey, says 18,000 metric tonnes vanished in one place.
Before that, 4,000 tonnes went missing somewhere else.
The government is now looking into this mystery.
They're trying to figure out where the coal went and who took it.
The court is also involved, making sure everything is done correctly.
This might be just the beginning, because there could be even more missing coal than we know about.
18,000 metric tonnes of illegally mined coal reported missing in East Jaintia Hills.
Justice (retd) B.P. Katakey alerted district administration and requested a probe.
The missing coal was discovered after an aerial survey.
This follows the disappearance of 4,000 metric tonnes of coal in July.
The Meghalaya government has ordered a fresh probe into the July incident.
