Students Press PMO on Women’s Safety and Policy Reform

Students Press PMO on Women’s Safety and Policy Reform

Nearly 100 students met in Delhi to discuss how to make women safer.

They worked with legal experts to write a set of requests for the government.

The requests will be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Organizers want Parliament to hold a special session about women’s safety.

They also want governments to explain how safety money is being spent.

Students asked for more women police officers in public places.

They want certain acts, such as public flashing and masturbation, to be clearly treated as sexual harassment.

They also want better security at metro stations and women-only coaches.

If the government does not take concrete action within 10 days, organizers say they will begin a nationwide protest at Jantar Mantar.
