Telangana Expands Sand Bazaars to Curb Illegal Mining
The Telangana government wants to stop people from illegally mining sand.
They are making more places called sand bazaars where people can buy sand at a fair price.
This way, people won't have to buy sand from illegal sellers who charge too much.
You can book sand online from January 8 to January 18 for the rainy season from June to October 2026.
The government is also setting up new places to store sand near Hyderabad so there's enough for everyone.
This will help keep the sand market fair and stop illegal sand transport.
Telangana Mineral Development Corporation (TGMDC) is expanding sand bazaars to curb illegal mining.
Advance bookings for sand from June to October 2026 are open, priced at Rs 1,450 per metric tonne.
Four existing sand bazaars are available for bulk bookings, with online applications accepted from January 8 to January 18.
Additional stockyards will be set up near Hyderabad to ensure continuous supply.
The initiative aims to prevent black-market operations and stabilize the sand market.
