NASA: New Island Emerged in Alaska Due to Climate Change
Imagine a mountain in Alaska covered in ice.
Over about 40 years, that ice has melted because the Earth is getting warmer.
This melting, caused by climate change, has created a new island called Prow Knob.
NASA's satellites took pictures to show this happening.
The mountain was once connected to a glacier called Alsek Glacier, but the ice has disappeared.
The island is now completely separate.
Scientists say this is happening because the glaciers are thinning and retreating.
NASA confirmed the emergence of a new island in Alaska.
The island, known as Prow Knob, formed in about 40 years.
Climate change caused the retreat of the Alsek Glacier.
The island was once part of the mainland, connected to the glacier.
Images were taken by Landsat 8 satellite showing the transformation.
