PNB Q1 net profit surges 214% to ₹5,253 crore
Punjab National Bank (PNB) has reported a big increase in its profits for the first three months of the year 2026-27.
The bank made ₹5,253 crore in profit, which is more than three times what it made last year during the same period.
This increase is mainly because the bank had to pay less tax this time.
The bank also saw improvements in its overall performance, with better interest margins and fewer bad loans.
It also saw growth in deposits and loans, especially in areas like housing, vehicles, agriculture, and small businesses.
PNB's net profit surged 214% to ₹5,253 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to ₹1,675 crore in the same quarter last year.
The increase in profit was largely due to a lower income tax provision of ₹1,725 crore, compared to ₹5,083 crore in the previous year.
Net Interest Income (NII) rose 2.1% to ₹10,798 crore, with net interest margin improving to 2.50%.
Gross Non-Performing Asset (NPA) ratio improved to 2.78%, down from 3.78% in the previous year.
Global business grew 10.2% to ₹29.98 lakh crore, driven by an 8.5% rise in global deposits and a 12.7% increase in global advances.
