Maharashtra FDA issues show-cause notices to Bollywood actors on Vimal

Some very famous movie stars in India made advertisements for a product called Vimal Elaichi.

The government in the state of Maharashtra has banned the sale of paan masala, a product that can contain tobacco.

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration sent letters called show-cause notices to the actors.

The letters ask why they made the ads.

The government thinks the ads secretly promote the banned paan masala product.

The actors might say they were only promoting a product that is legal to sell.

But some people worry that such ads make tobacco brands seem normal and cool.

Famous actors have a big influence on children and adults.

So the government should also check other similar advertisements.
