Kumaraswamy, Shivakumar clash over Bidadi AI city
There is a big argument between two important leaders, H D Kumaraswamy and D K Shivakumar, about a new smart city project near Bidadi.
Farmers are protesting because they don't want to give up their land.
They say the government isn't paying them enough and that the process isn't fair.
Kumaraswamy, who was earlier in favor of similar projects, now says the current government is doing things wrong.
The project is supposed to be a big, modern city near Bengaluru to help with traffic problems, but the farmers are worried about their future.
Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Karnataka Deputy CM D K Shivakumar clashed over land acquisition for an AI city near Bidadi.
Farmers have been protesting since September 2023 over loss of livelihood and inadequate compensation.
Kumaraswamy alleged irregularities in the land acquisition process for the 9,000-acre project.
The project, Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township, aims to reduce traffic congestion in Bengaluru.
Kumaraswamy had initially approved the proposal for five townships around Bengaluru in 2006.
