AIIMS Offers Free Drug-Level Tests for Epilepsy Patients
AIIMS is now offering free blood tests for epilepsy patients to check the levels of their medicines.
This helps doctors make sure the medicine is working well and is safe.
Before, patients had to pay a lot for these tests at private labs.
Now, they can get them for free at AIIMS.
This is important because even small changes in medicine doses can affect how well they work.
The tests use special technology to measure the medicine in the blood accurately.
This helps patients control their seizures better and avoid side effects.
The service is available to both patients staying in the hospital and those visiting the outpatient department.
AIIMS introduces free Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) for anti-epileptic drugs starting January 1.
The service is available to both inpatients and outpatient department (OPD) patients at AIIMS Delhi and Jhajjar.
Commonly monitored drugs include phenobarbitone, carbamazepine, valproic acid, and phenytoin.
The tests use Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA) technology for precise measurement of drug levels.
The initiative aims to improve treatment adherence, reduce out-of-pocket expenses, and enhance patient safety.
