Delhi Extends Deadline for School Fee Regulation Committees
The Delhi High Court has extended the deadlines for private schools to form committees that regulate school fees and submit proposals for fee increases.
The original deadlines were January 10 and January 25, 2026, but they have been extended to January 20 and February 5, 2026, respectively.
This decision comes after several schools challenged the new law that mandates these committees.
The law aims to bring transparency to fee fixation, but the schools argue that the law is unfair and that the Delhi government does not have the authority to enact it.
The court will hear the case again on March 12, 2026.
Delhi High Court extends deadlines for forming School-Level Fee Regulation Committees (SLFRC) and submitting fee hike proposals by 10 days.
Original deadlines were January 10 for SLFRC formation and January 25 for fee hike proposals, now extended to January 20 and February 5, 2026.
Petitions challenge the constitutional validity of the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Act, 2025, and its rules.
Action Committee of Unaided Recognised Private Schools argues the law is arbitrary and that the Delhi government lacks authority to enact it.
Court refuses to stay the December 24, 2025, notification but subjects any actions to further orders.
