Mamata Faction Loses Nandigram Candidate After Suvendu Meeting

Sanchita Pradhan Dey was supposed to contest a special election in Nandigram for Mamata Banerjee’s faction.

She withdrew her nomination on Friday, just before the deadline.

Before withdrawing, she met West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at Nabanna.

The articles do not state why she decided to leave the race.

The Election Commission had recently given Mamata’s faction a new party name and symbol.

Mamata Banerjee later said her faction would support Congress in Nandigram.

The Nandigram vote is scheduled for October 6, with counting on October 9.

Different reports describe the other candidates remaining in the contest differently.
