Vedanta Sesa Goa Saves 8 Million Energy Units
Vedanta Sesa Goa, a company that mines iron ore, has saved a lot of energy, about 8 million units, in the last year and a bit of this year.
This is like powering more than 6,000 Indian homes for a whole year.
They did this by using better technology and smarter systems.
They have a big plant that turns heat from their factories into electricity, which helps them use less power from the grid.
They are also using more solar power and electric vehicles instead of diesel ones.
The company's boss, Navin Jaju, says they are doing all this to be more environmentally friendly and to meet their goal of having no net carbon emissions by 2050.
Vedanta Sesa Goa saved nearly 8 million units of energy in FY25 and the current fiscal through technology upgrades and smarter systems.
The energy saved could power over 6,000 average Indian households for a year.
The company's 65 MW waste heat recovery power plant reduces grid dependence and supports circular economy practices.
Vedanta Sesa Goa is increasing solar adoption with a 100 KWP plant operational at its value-added business unit.
The company has reduced diesel use by about 50,000 litres per unit annually by shifting partially from diesel-wheel loaders to Electric Vehicle Wheel Loaders (EVWLs).
