Sadiya College Commerce Students Protest for Provincialisation
Students from the Commerce Department of Sadiya College in Assam held a protest.
They want the government to take control of their department, called provincialisation, just like the Arts and Science departments.
They say the Commerce department started in 2007 but has been ignored for years.
Students have to pay high fees, and the department lacks proper classrooms and teachers.
They also say teachers are not paid enough.
The students are worried that if things don't improve, the Commerce department might close, and many students will suffer.
They want the government to help them like they have helped other students in Assam.
Commerce students of Sadiya College protested demanding provincialisation of their department.
The Commerce stream was introduced in 2007 but has not been provincialised, unlike Arts and Science streams.
Students allege high fees, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient teachers in the Commerce department.
The department collects substantial revenue but lacks basic academic facilities and proper teacher remuneration.
Protesters warned of potential closure of the Commerce department due to continued neglect.
