Water from Hidkal Dam Proposed for Dharwad Beverage Plants
The government wants to use water from the Hidkal dam to help new drink factories in Dharwad.
These factories, including one owned by a famous cricket player, need water to make their products.
The minister says there's enough water in the dam for the factories without causing problems.
He hopes people will understand that these factories will bring jobs and help the area grow.
Industries minister MB Patil proposed using Hidkal dam water for beverage industries in Dharwad.
The proposal aims to support new beverage companies in the Belur Industrial Area.
Hidkal dam has a storage capacity of 51 tmcft, with 4 tmcft earmarked for industrial use.
Only 0.5 tmcft of water is requested for the beverage companies.
Ceylon Beverages and Campa are key investors planning units in the region.
