BMW to Cut 8,000 Jobs by 2027
BMW, a big car company, is planning to cut 8,000 jobs by the end of 2027.
They will offer voluntary redundancy to about 40,000 of their German employees who work in office jobs.
This means these employees can choose to leave their jobs with some benefits.
BMW has about 154,000 employees worldwide.
They are doing this because selling electric cars and competing in places like China is making it harder for them to make money.
Other car companies like Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz are also cutting jobs.
BMW has been doing better than some of its competitors, but recently, they warned that their business in China is worse than they expected.
Last year, their car sales in China were the lowest since 2017, and they fell by 30% in the last three months.
BMW plans to cut 8,000 jobs by the end of 2027.
About 40,000 German desk-based employees will be offered voluntary redundancy.
Production line workers will not be affected by the cuts.
BMW employs about 154,000 people worldwide.
The job cuts are due to slim margins, US tariffs, and intense Chinese competition.
