UP Court to Hear Sambhal Mosque Dispute on Feb 24
There is a big argument in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, about a mosque called Shahi Jama Masjid.
Some people say it was built on top of a temple.
A court has set a date to talk about this argument on February 24.
There was a lot of trouble before, with people getting hurt and some even dying.
The Supreme Court will also look at the case on January 12.
Both sides have lawyers trying to make their case.
The Muslim side is saying the court should not even be hearing this, but the court says they can do a survey.
The Hindu side says the Supreme Court has stopped any new orders until they look at it.
The court in Chandausi, Uttar Pradesh, has set February 24 for the hearing of the Shahi Jama Masjid-Harihar temple dispute.
The Supreme Court will hear the case on January 12, with a stay order currently in place.
The dispute began on November 19, 2024, when Hindu petitioners claimed the mosque was built over a temple.
A court-ordered survey on November 24 led to unrest, resulting in four deaths and injuries to 29 police personnel.
The Muslim side has challenged the case's maintainability in the Allahabad High Court, which upheld the trial court's order for a survey.
