Heritage Hotels Association Seeks GST Exemption for Foreign Tourists
The Indian Heritage Hotels Association, which represents many historic hotels in India, wants the government to stop charging a tax called GST to foreign tourists.
They believe this will make India a more attractive place to visit compared to other countries, like those in Southeast Asia.
The association presented this idea to the Union Tourism Minister.
They are also holding a big meeting in Jaipur with about 150 hotel owners.
The meeting will discuss ways to promote heritage tourism, which includes cultural traditions and supporting local communities.
