Venice Film Festival Scraps Jury Press Conference Amid Tensions

Venice Film Festival Scraps Jury Press Conference Amid Tensions

The Venice Film Festival usually lets journalists ask questions to the competition jury before the event begins.

This year, that press conference will not happen.

Festival organizers say the reason is a scheduling conflict.

They have not said what caused the conflict.

Instead, journalists will attend a welcome cocktail reception.

The change comes while some filmmakers and artists are asking the festival to take action on the Israel-Gaza conflict.

More than 200 people signed a related open letter.

The festival will still take place from September 2 to September 12, 2026.
