Kolkata Airport Transit System Construction Commences
Imagine they are building a road and a train track under the road you drive on near the Kolkata airport.
They're building a tunnel with four lanes under the current road to connect the airport to a new cargo area, where they'll keep cargo.
Above this road tunnel, they're building a tunnel for the metro train.
This is happening because the airport is running out of space and needs to expand.
This project should be finished by the end of this year.
Construction has begun on a two-level tunnel under VIP Road near Kolkata airport.
The lower tunnel will be a four-lane underpass connecting the airport to a new cargo complex.
The upper tunnel will be used by metro trains on the New Garia-Kolkata airport Orange Line.
RVNL is constructing the airport cargo area access tunnel for AAI.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
