Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Book 50 Ganesh Mandals Over Violations

Police in Pimpri-Chinchwad booked 50 Ganesh festival groups during immersion processions.

They said the groups used loud DJ systems and laser lights beyond allowed limits.

Police had warned the groups before the festival to control their sound levels.

Equipment was taken from 40 of the groups.

Police are still working to seize equipment from the remaining groups.

The largest number of cases was reported in Zone 2.

One Wakad group was booked after videos of its alleged violation appeared online.

Officials said loud sound can disturb children, older people, students and patients.

The police said the action was meant to enforce noise rules and reduce inconvenience to residents.
