Bombay HC Grants Bail to Activists in Elgar Parishad Case
The Bombay High Court has allowed two activists, Sagar Gorkhe and Ramesh Gaichor, to go free on bail.
They were arrested in 2020 for their alleged involvement in the Elgar Parishad case, which is about a meeting that happened in 2017.
The court said that since other people involved in the case have already been granted bail, these two should also be released.
The activists have to promise to show up at the NIA office once a month and pay a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh each.
The case is about a meeting that some people say led to violence and that the activists are accused of being part of a banned group.
Many other people involved in the case have also been granted bail, and one person, Father Stan Swamy, died while in prison waiting for the trial to start.
