US, Iran Near Hormuz Agreement as Fighting Continues in Region

Some countries are fighting in the Middle East, and many people are worried about ships that carry oil.

Iran closed an important water route called the Strait of Hormuz, and now Iran and Oman are talking about reopening it.

They say the deal is almost finished, and both sides agree on where ships should travel.

American leaders say the talks are moving forward, and one leader thinks an agreement could come very soon.

The new plan would let ships go into the Gulf through a route controlled by Iran and leave through a route controlled by Oman.

This would only happen if the United States stops blocking Iranian ports.

While the leaders talk, fighting is still happening.

A group called the Houthis said they attacked two oil tankers from Saudi Arabia.

A cargo ship from India sank near Yemen, but all 14 sailors were rescued safely.

Israel also carried out airstrikes in Lebanon after two of its soldiers were killed, and everyone hopes a deal can bring safer seas.
