Kerala's Bakrid Holiday Change Sparks Political Controversy

Kerala's Bakrid Holiday Change Sparks Political Controversy

The government in Kerala moved the Bakrid holiday from Friday to Saturday.

This upset the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a political party.

They accused the government of having a hidden, possibly anti-minority, agenda.

The government said it changed the date to match when people were actually celebrating the holiday.

IUML was not pleased and said the government was trying to provoke the Muslim community.

The government responded by closing all schools and colleges on Friday, hoping to calm the situation, but criticism continued.
