TN Minister Rejects All‑Party Meeting Over Cauvery Row
A minister in Tamil Nadu, India, said that a meeting with all political parties about a water dispute was not needed because the state assembly had already agreed on a solution.
He said the decision was made by everyone together.
The minister also said that the main opposition party and the chief minister of the neighboring state were working together to hurt Tamil Nadu.
Some parties filed court cases against the decision.
The minister warned that the people of Tamil Nadu would suffer if the politicians keep fighting over water.
Tamil Nadu minister CTR Nirmal Kumar rejected calls for an all‑party meeting on the Cauvery water dispute.
He said a unanimous resolution had already been passed in the state assembly with all parties’ support.
The minister accused DMK president MK Stalin and Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of working together to undermine Tamil Nadu’s interests.
Parties such as AIADMK, DMK, and others had filed petitions in the high court and Supreme Court challenging the resolution.
The minister warned that the public, not the politicians, would suffer from the dispute.
