Maharashtra Faces Monsoon Exit With 17% Rainfall Deficit

Maharashtra did not receive as much rain as usual this monsoon season.

From June 1 to September 22, it got 787.2 millimetres instead of the normal 953.2 millimetres.

This means the state had a 17% rainfall deficit.

The Southwest Monsoon is expected to start leaving Maharashtra around October 5.

Most of the state may be free of the monsoon by October 10.

Some districts, such as Solapur and Ahilyanagar, received much less rain than normal.

Other places had more mixed results.

Pune and Satara had very little rain during one week but still had more rain than normal for the whole season.
