JNPT Rail Link to DFC Delayed
The last part of a big train project in India, called the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), is almost done.
It connects to a big port called JNPT and is expected to finish by March 2026.
However, there are not enough train drivers, which is causing delays.
The Indian Railways is in charge of providing these drivers, but they don't have enough.
This is making it hard to use the new train tracks properly.
The government has spent a lot of money on this project, but the lack of drivers is a big problem.
There are also plans for more train tracks, but the government is having trouble getting private companies to invest in them.
JNPT rail connectivity to WDFC expected by March 2026.
Crew shortage is a major challenge, with 34,886 loco pilots short.
Indian Railways controls crew provision but struggles to meet demand.
Congestion and infrastructure constraints affect traffic optimization.
Private investment for new DFCs is challenging due to high costs and long wait times.
