Woman Booked for Slogans at Bengaluru Protest

A woman was booked by the police for holding placards with slogans supporting jailed activists Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam during a student protest in Bengaluru.

The protest was against police action in Delhi and had around 1,000 to 1,500 participants.

The police found the slogans provocative and filed a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The protesters, however, saw the slogans as part of a peaceful demonstration.
