SFI Calls for AI Access and NEP Resistance
The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) held a big meeting in Hyderabad.
They talked about how important it is for all students, especially poor ones, to have access to new technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI).
They said AI should not be only for rich people.
A speaker named Prabir Purkayastha warned that technology can be misused by those in power.
Another speaker, Chava Ravi, strongly disagreed with a new education policy called NEP, which he said is closing government schools and hurting teachers.
A professor mentioned that most schools in India are now private, which makes education expensive.
The group also protested against the U.S. attacking Venezuela.
They promised to keep fighting for fair and affordable education for everyone.
SFI's national convention in Hyderabad called for equal access to AI technology for all students, especially the poor.
Prabir Purkayastha warned about the misuse of technology by ruling classes and corporations, urging educational reform.
Chava Ravi strongly opposed the National Education Policy (NEP), citing the closure of government schools and erosion of teacher rights.
Professor Purendra Prasad expressed concern over the privatization of 80% of school education in India, questioning how equal education can be achieved.
The convention passed a resolution condemning the U.S. attack on Venezuela and the detention of President Maduro.
