Thousands Flee Nigeria After Gang Leader Threatens Mass Killings
In Nigeria, a gang leader named Bello Turji told people in a town called Tidibale to leave their homes.
He threatened to kill anyone who stayed.
This happened because Turji thinks someone from the town told the police about his gang, leading to a fight where one of his men was killed.
Thousands of people have already left their homes and are staying in schools in a nearby town called Isa.
The government is being criticized for not doing enough to stop the violence.
Other groups, like ISWAP and Boko Haram, are also causing trouble in the area.
The U.S. even did a strike against some of these groups last month.
Thousands of people fled Tidibale in northwestern Nigeria after gang leader Bello Turji ordered them to leave.
Turji threatened to kill anyone who remained in the community, including livestock.
The evacuation was in response to a security raid that killed one of Turji's men, which he blamed on the community.
More than 3,000 people have been moved to Isa, about 50 km away, with schools being used as temporary shelters.
Local activists report escalating violence, with dozens of villages abandoned in the region.
