Nepal and Tibet Close Everest Tourism Due to Heavy Snow
The tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, has too much snow!
On both the side belonging to Nepal and the side belonging to Tibet, it's snowing and raining a lot, more than usual for this time of year.
Because it's so snowy and icy, the grown-ups in charge have decided that tourists cannot visit the Everest area right now.
They have closed off the trails and scenic spots.
This big storm is part of a bigger weather event called Cyclone Montha.
Unfortunately, in Nepal, the bad weather has also caused floods and landslides, and sadly, many people have lost their lives.
Even a helicopter trying to help people got into trouble and crashed, though the pilot was saved.
Nepal and China have closed the Everest region to tourism due to unseasonably heavy snow and rain.
Authorities in Nepal have halted trekking on many routes in Annapurna, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri areas.
A private helicopter crashed in deep snowdrifts in Nepal while attempting to rescue stranded trekkers, but the pilot survived.
The severe weather is influenced by Cyclone Montha, which has also caused heavy rain and snow in the Himalayas.
On the Tibetan side, ticket sales were suspended due to icy roads and poor visibility, halting vehicular traffic.
