Yale Drops Fees for Students from Low-Income Families
Yale University is making a big change to help students from families who don't earn a lot of money.
Starting this fall, if your family makes less than $100,000 a year, you won't have to pay tuition or other costs to go to Yale.
Before, this only applied to families making less than $75,000.
Now, almost half of families in the U.S. with kids will qualify.
Families making between $100,000 and $200,000 will also get help with tuition, but they might still have to pay some other costs.
This change is meant to make college more affordable for more people.
Yale University will eliminate tuition and other costs for new undergraduates from families earning less than $100,000 annually.
The policy change will take effect for students entering in the fall of 2024.
Previously, Yale waived all costs for families earning less than $75,000 a year.
Families earning between $100,000 and $200,000 will have tuition waived but may still incur other costs.
Nearly half of American households with children ages 6 to 17 will qualify for the new policy.
