BMC Plans ₹3.01-Crore NEERI Study at Kanjurmarg Dumping Ground

BMC Plans ₹3.01-Crore NEERI Study at Kanjurmarg Dumping Ground

Mumbai’s Kanjurmarg waste facility has been linked to complaints about bad smells, air pollution and fires.

The city plans to ask NEERI to investigate these problems.

The investigation is expected to take two years and cost ₹3.01 crore.

Scientists will look for methane gas coming from waste mounds.

They will use sensors on the ground, drones, satellites and maps.

They will also check the air and smells in nearby homes.

Six to 10 stations may continuously monitor air quality.

The results could help the BMC decide how to improve the facility.
