India's Coal Stock at Power Plants Reaches Record High
India's power plants now have a lot of coal!
They have a record amount stored, enough to keep the lights on for almost a month.
This is because of a special loading method called silo loading, where coal is loaded quickly and efficiently onto trains.
Government officials met to discuss how to keep coal moving smoothly.
They're also working on building more places to load coal this way.
This means more reliable power, even when it rains or during peak usage.
Coal stock at thermal power plants reaches a record 58.25 million tonnes.
This stockpile is enough to cover 25 days of consumption.
Silo loading by Indian Railways is a key factor in achieving this.
The government ministers reviewed coal logistics and transportation systems.
There's been an increase in silo loading from 18.8% in 2022-23 to 29% in 2025-26.
