VACB Arrests Two for Rs 14 Crore Fraud
Two people, Sangeeth K and Anilkumar, were arrested for stealing Rs 14 crore from a lottery welfare fund in Kerala.
Sangeeth worked as a clerk and used his position to change numbers in important documents, like cheques and registers, to take the money.
He and his friend used the stolen money to buy things and invest in real estate.
The police are still checking if more people were involved in this fraud.
VACB arrested Sangeeth K and Anilkumar for misappropriating Rs 14 crore from the Kerala State Lottery Agents and Sellers Welfare Fund Board.
Sangeeth allegedly altered cheque amounts, forged signatures, and manipulated official registers to transfer funds to his and Anilkumar's accounts.
The fraud occurred between 2014 and 2020 during Sangeeth's tenure as an LDC on deputation at the board.
The misappropriated funds were used to acquire assets and support real estate business activities.
VACB is investigating whether more persons were involved and if the fraud continued after Sangeeth's tenure ended.
